So this week flew by and now it's week six and it might be my last week in Kingwood..
we had some great things happen this week and Kingwood just keeps getting better and better! If I get transferred in a week I'll be sad to go.
So Maria is this sweet 80 year old lady from Puerto Rico that we've been teaching over the past couple months. She's finally starting to make some serious progress and it feels great! We had a wonderful lesson with her where we read 2 Nephi 31 with her and discussed baptism. Maria is super sensitive to the spirit so when we asked how she felt after reading, she described the spirit perfectly. It was a great moment. We also made a baptismal calendar with her, which is basically a calendar we make that shows her baptism and what we need to do to make her scheduled date. Not only did she do all this, but she also came to church on Sunday!! Maria is our favorite person right now, she also feels like she's adopted us so she calls us her kids and we have the right to call her Abuela. It's great.
We also had another mini miracle. We had previously lost contact with a man we had taught, so we decided to do a fast for him. So yesterday Elder Wolfgramm and I decided to fast. Let me tell you, the Lord knows when we (as members of the church) fast with a purpose. It came to be about 40 minutes before church when we decided to call him. It rang a few times, and then he picked up!! We started talking and at one point it sounded like he was going to drop us. He said, " ya know elders I'm just gonna tell it to you straight..." Elder Wolfgramm and I looked at each other with 'oh no' expressions but then he said "... I need to get back on track. I'm not making much progress over here. Let's set up an appointment for Monday or Tuesday evening." Holy cow. Didn't see that one coming!
Besides missionary work, the missionary scheduled also got changed. We had another worldwide broadcast, it was great! They also changed how many key indicators we track. We are down from 9 to 4. The first presidency are really helping us focus in!
We had an exchange this week as well. I went with Elder Bott down to the Kingwood 3rd area. At one part in the day we biked past an abandon moving truck. Elder Bott thought it looked like something off of the Walking dead, so with that in mind I laid down in the grass and we took a photo.
That about brings us to today! Since we fasted this week here's a great scripture highlighting the power that comes from fasting:
Helman 3:35
"Nevertheless they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God."
Have a great week!
